A comment on one of my videos inspired this post.
The majority of able bodied people look at someone who uses a wheelchair and see the same thing no matter how different chair users they see. They don't realize that numerous different things can cause a person to need a wheelchair and that chair users more than likely do not have the same strengths and weaknesses. This, of course, can create many problems and uncomfortable situations.
The very first time that a person encounters a wheelchair user, they typically form an assumption about every other chair user they may encounter in their life. I cannot really blame them for doing so because I think everyone does this, to an extent. First impressions can last a long time.
Anyway, if you are reading this, just remember that we are all unique.
