Dreams and acceptance

Hey YouTubers. A few days ago I was browsing a messageboard that I sometimes visit and one of the topics got me thinking about something that I have yet to share with all of you. I've been keeping a dream log since 2006. This post isn't about that, though. What it IS about is the fact that before I really accepted/became at peace with my injury, I always was walking in my dreams. It wasn't until after I was okay with who I was as a person (in terms of the injury) that my wheelchair started appearing in my dreams. The strange thing is I never really consciously thought I wasn't okay with who I was, but looking back, the signs were there. I never wore shorts because I hated the way my legs looked. I didn't want people to take pictures of me in my wheelchair.

Then one day, seemingly out of nowhere, I woke up and accepted who I am. I have to say that ever since, I really have felt so much happier with life, in general. People need to be okay with themselves. I wish that my epiphany had come sooner, but I am thankful that it came at all.

Times have changed

I'm finally feeling better now, but I'm still slightly under the weather. I should be able to start doing music videos again soon, though. For tonight, I'm off to see some friends in Anything Goes. Should be fun. =)

A bit on how I got started doing Yoga in the first place

About two years ago, I started doing Yoga at my local gym. Initially I went to a Chair Yoga class, but I quickly outgrew that and was anxious to further my practice by trying out regular Yoga classes. I ended up falling in love with Hot Yoga and faithfully went to classes 3 times a week for 8 months or so. I would still be doing classes there except I go to a different gym now. =\

Back when I was still there my instructor/teacher suggested that I do YouTube videos to show how adaptable Yoga is for people that are disabled. Now obviously everyone's disability/ability level is different, but I found that there were a lot of things I didn't think I could do in Yoga that I realized I could do either right away or with a little bit of work/practice (which is common for many "normal" people anyway) and for those things that I could not do, she came up with some nifty adaptations that worked well for me. The most important thing, though, is not worrying about doing something the "right" way. You do whatever works for you.

There are about 8 or 9 more Yoga videos I have to upload over coming weeks/months. By the time I am doing uploading those, it will hopefully be warm enough to do the next batch of videos on the beach.

Yoga and music, or lack thereof

A few days ago I recorded 10 or 11 Yoga videos for future upload on YouTube. I'm going to spread them out to 2, or possibly 1, per week. I don't want to blow my load right away.

As for music, I haven't done any videos in a while partly because I wanted to take a short break after all of the Valentine's Day ones, but also because I caught a cold recently and I can't sing currently. Hopefully it'll be gone soon, though, so I can start doing song videos again.

Ray Rice autographed mini helmet!!!

So, there is a boardwalk arcade that I've been going to for YEARS. Seriously...since I was around 7 or 8 years old. There are regular video games, but I mainly go to win tickets/points and then redeem them for prizes. I used to go a lot when I was younger, but after I got to be about 20 or so, I lost interest. I still go every once in a while, though.

ANYWAY, I went today because they were having a promotion (3,000 points just for showing up) and I saw this Ray Rice autoed mini helmet available for 144,000 points. I had 160k-ish points, so I decided to get it. He went to Rutgers which is nearby and he is just a good running back in general. =)

Birthday haul

I ended up with an interesting variety of gifts. Kristin Chenoweth CD's (her and I...and Giada de Laurentiis are going to live happily ever after someday), basketball cards, and a box to keep recipes in.

I went to Friendly's for dinner because I love their clams and there was another person there with a birthday. ...and I'm pretty sure his name was Joseph, too! Weird.

Oh yeah, I also made my way through a bunch of emails/messages I put off answering yesterday.

Spring/Summer

It is a pretty weird feeling going to auditions and being on the OTHER side of the table. I get to judge others instead of having people judge my talents.

Back in black

I'm back home and I uploaded all of those videos I mentioned previously. I have to admit that I'm a bit surprised that the rock climbing one hasn't gotten as much attention as the other videos.

As much as I dislike NJ, the cold, and the snow, it'll be nice to sleep in my own bed again. I SO can't wait until I get my place in Florida later this year, though!!

North Carolina

I'm heading there tomorrow to visit my sister for her birthday and also to celebrate mine and my mom's while down there. This'll probably be my last post until I get back home. I'm planning on uploading a video with a guest star tomorrow before I go. Not sure if I'll have time to, though.
